Welcome to "Hochschule Ruhr West"
Located in the attractive cities of Mülheim and Bottrop right in the centre of the Ruhrgebiet, the new Hochschule Ruhr West (HRW) will be an international university of applied sciences with a special ambience, friendly atmosphere and high quality standards. Special focus will be put on the subjects of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and engineering.
In both cities of Mülheim and Bottrop new buildings are being planned in attractive locations.
Cooperation between Hochschule Ruhr West (HRW) and local companies provides excellent opportunities for on-the-job training, where students can also take their final exams.
The system of sandwich courses allows students to gather valuable practical experiences alongside their academic studies.
There will be no tuition fee charged by Hochschule Ruhr West (HRW).
International Network
In addition to the contents of our subjects we offer a wide range of foreign languages that are specifically related to your studies. It is planned to set up international courses of studies and networks with the aim of a lively exchange of students not only among the numerous twin towns of Mülheim and Bottrop but also on the international level.
Students can graduate with a Bachelor's degree after a seven-semester course of studies including internship. Graduate students can obtain a Master's degree after three semesters.

The concept of Hochschule Ruhr West (HRW) is to promote studies for students with a multi-cultural background. The didactic concept of the Hochschule understands their ethnic diversity as an indication of strength and aims at including their intercultural competence.
Who can study at Hochschule Ruhr West (HRW)?
The new University of Applied Sciences is open for students who:
- have a Higher Education Entrance Qualification
- are interested in doing studies in Engineering and Natural Sciences
- want to obtain international experiences and get a degree that is internationally recognized.
