A Lively Cultural Scene
A square (Quadrat) has become a brand label. And here in Bottrop this label stands for a lively cultural scene and nearly 180 local cultural events that attract about 20,000 visitors a year.
The extraordinary museum complex "Quadrat" (about 30,000 visitors a year), for example features a juxtaposition of modern arts and early history.
Music of all kinds and theatre plays ranging from puppet plays to cabaret shows find their audiences from all walks of life and of all ages.
The outstanding Kulturzentrum (cultural centre) combines the cultural bureau of the town, an adult learning centre, a university offering correspondence courses, a school of music, a centre for cultural workshops, a cinema, the public library and the "young museum" under one roof.
